So, a year and a half, give or take, is how long it's been since I first started this. Well I didn't really stick to my guns, but I have improved my money skills.
I have no car payment anymore, and Phil and I are moving in with his Mum to help her and us out as far as finances go.
We fixed a lot of things at her house (new plumbing, back roof redo, new washer and dryer), but there are still a ton of things that we'd like to improve (floors, paint, new light fixtures, windows, turning the storage room back into Mom's bedroom, installing the wood stove, kitchen reno, yard cleanup, horse barn reno... yada, yada, yada), and I know we'll get it done. Eventually. It'll be a slow process, but this will be our home for now, if not forever. We both want to put our little touches on everything, so that it feels even more like home for everyone.
So, speaking of little touches, I want to "steampunk" the house, or would that be "steamify". We love steampunk, and it seems to have become quite popular among the masses. I'm talking brass accents, octopus lights, industrial details, I'm sure you get the picture.
Everyone seems happy with this idea, which is thrilling. My main focus right now will be our bedroom, the bathroom, and the kitchen.
My intention for this blog will be to showcase our successes (and failures) with the renovation, and also a sounding board. I also plan on showcasing the many projects, tips, etc we find on Pinterest, and assessing how easy or hard they are. We're cheapskate DIY-ers, so I'm sure there will be plenty of things to post.
Here's to a new home in the new year! :)
